Dynamics GP Stock Count Import Module for Inventory Updates
Posted by Steve Chapman
The Dynamics GP Stock Count Import module makes it easy to update GP with actual inventory count information. The module works in conjunction with the standard stock count functionality in Dynamics GP.
Basically, it creates a count template in a tab delimited or comma delimited file. You can use this file in Excel to enter your count information.
Once the physical count is completed and you have entered the count information into the count template in Excel, import the count results into Dynamics GP.
Here are the basic steps to perform this process:
- Create Stock Count Schedule.
- Save Stock Count Schedule.
- Start Stock Count.
- Create Stock Count Import template.
- Complete stock count.
- Import completed Stock Count Import template.
- Review count in Stock Count Entry screen.
- Process Stock Count Entry.
Once you’ve started the Stock Count, you can create the count template with the Stock Count Import screen:
This is an example of the stock count template with some count information already input. You can see multiple inventory sites, and some lot controlled items, with the existing lot numbers:
Once you’ve entered all the count data into Excel, you can save the file and import it into GP with the Stock Count Import screen.
After the count information is imported, a Count Variance report prints out and the relevant Stock Count Entry screen opens, ready for review and analysis. You can make any changes here, and then process the count.
The Dynamics Stock Count Import module will speed up your physical counts, requiring less time to complete, and with higher accuracy.
Take a look at this short video showing this process in action to see the functionality visually.
