10x Medical Devices: A “Must-Attend” Conference for 2017

Posted by Armanino Dynamics Team

Anyone in the industry can attest that there is no shortage of Medical Device Conferences to choose from; needless to say, when we began our search for the right event to attend this year, we had numerous options. It’s almost scary to think how closely we came to bypassing 10x Medical Devices conference, but when we ran across Joe Hage, leader of the Medical Devices Group on LinkedIn– his relaxed demeanor and sense of community piqued our interest – and we’re so glad it did!

First, let me say that every repeat attendee we encountered (and there were a lot of them), said this was the event they looked forward to every year – and for good reason. The event goes beyond just a conference, and fosters a sense of community built on the passion of medical device innovation.

But don’t just take our word for it. Check out the Medical Devices Group on LinkedIn. There is a reason they have nearly 316,000 members! Big thanks to Joe Hage for hosting this event and allowing Armanino to be a part of it- we look forward to seeing everyone next year!

There’s too much to cover in any one blog post, but below are the top 3 things that made 10x Medical Devices Conference in San Diego stand out and why we think it’s worth adding to your short list of “must attend” events for 2017:

#1 Mixers, Dinners, and more – you have to eat sometime, why not with new friends?
Mixer, Day 1: The first night featured a mixer and Manufacturing Showcase which offered a great opportunity to visit different booths, get to know fellow attendees, their products, and check out new innovative technologies poised to hit the market. My personal favorite was Styku whose technology could assess body composition quickly and easily at a fraction of the cost of similar solutions and STROMA that offers permanent eye-color change.

Ice Cream, Day 2: Because, who doesn’t like ice cream?

Dinner, Day 2: The second night took us to the Stone Brewery, which if you’re wondering, has a fantastic line up of beer and food. Of course, all this paled in comparison to the lively conversation that ensued with Don DeStefano and Tim Kringel at LexisNexis, Mike Sperduti @Emerge Sales, Gabrielle Brown @ Alpha Vet Tech (dog and cat lovers, check out their cool offering!) and Sumanti Sundaram @ Yale School of Medicine. These are the types of side events that really make a conference great. We couldn’t hope for a better group of people to have dinner with.

#2 Manufacturing Showcase: Fostering an Environment of Continuous Improvement

During the Mixer, companies had the opportunity to showcase their products while attendees visited and cast their votes for their favorite technologies.

On the second day of the conference, the showcase winner was announced (congrats to 410 Medical!) and with the help of the audience and Joe, they received guidance to perfect their product pitch and went on to create a professional product video.

In addition to these events there were numerous workshops around Marketing, Reimbursement, and FDA and CE Submissions, as well as product pitches with real-time feedback from the group.

#3 Networking & Awareness: Building a Sense of Community

Day 2 also featured session titled “20 in 60” where companies like Armanino were given just three minutes to introduce themselves to the group. We were lucky enough to have Jeff Russell, Armanino’s Director of High Tech & Life Sciences, in attendance who provided a brief overview of our recently released Life Sciences ERP solution and consulting services.

Overall, 10x Medical Devices conference was a great event and one we think should be on every Medical Device company’s list of conferences to attend.
