Billing Schedules in D365 F&O Spring Release 2019

Posted by Pascale Pedraza

As many of you may already know, Armanino’s Revenue Recognition module will become part of the standard Microsoft D365 Finance and Operations code in the 2019 Spring Release. In addition, the release will also include the Armanino Billing Schedules module. We’re excited about it and wanted to share a high-level overview of this module:

Summary

Customers need to be able to apply flexible billing rules against a sales contract.  A sales contract can include a negotiated billing schedule that includes a payment plan for the entire value of the Sales Order.  In this module, billing schedules can be created at the order line level, with various billing rules. Here are some examples:

1)  A Subscription type item that has monthly billing installments, such as $1,200 for 12 months, where the invoice is generated to the customer each month

2)  A Subscription type item that has quarterly billing installments, such as $3,000 each quarter over a 12-month period, where the invoice is generated to the customer each quarter

Billing Schedules

Billing schedules are defined at the sales order line level. The user will define the number of installments and the frequency (One-time, Month, Week, Quarter, Annual or Custom). The system is flexible enough to have additional setup options like Prorate, Actual Date, Percent and Arrears logic. The Calculate button will generate the billing schedules based on the setup, and the user will have the ability to edit/add the generated information.

Scope

The Billing Schedules module has been built to work with Project Invoices and Sales Order Invoices.

Contract Summary Screen

As part of the module, the sales order form will have a new option that will allow the user to open the new Contact Summary screen. It will display an overall status of the revenue and billing information in the order.

We hope the Billing Schedules module will be helpful to many of you out there. For more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
