Kicking off December with #GivingTuesday
Posted by Armanino Nonprofit Team
Now in it’s fourth year, #GivingTuesday falls on December 1 this year.
We wanted to share a little bit about the history of a day we know has become important for our nonprofit clients and their fundraising teams. Here is how #GivingTuesday describes it on their website:
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
A recent The Nonprofit Times article also talked about how nonprofits such as Bittersweet Farms and the national Civil War Trust are taking advantage of this day to kick off their fundraising campaigns.
Are you an individual supporting #GivingTuesday? Or a nonprofit launching a fundraising campaign? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section.
